How to Make an eBook

“The Real Truth About Marketing Your Own Information Products…”

There are really only 3 reasons to create your own information products (whether in eBook or other format):

  1. To gain credibility in your area of expertise…
  2. To use for lead generation…
  3. As a primary money-maker…

If you’ve found any success selling and marketing on or offline, then you know having all 3 are important — credibility, lead generation, AND a primary money-maker.

To Gain Credibility:

Unfortunately, information products done the WRONG WAY can do more harm than good.  Not only will you waste valuable resources producing a product that misses the mark, but you can damage your reputation (and the reputation of those who associate with you).

Just recently, I bought a program from a marketer who positions himself as an “offline expert” – claiming to have the answers for Internet marketers to ”sell and market” their services to local business owners.

Not only did I ask for a refund (which I normally won’t do if I glean even a single gem of insight), but I will never buy any products from him, anyone who joint ventures with him, or anyone who uses him as a testimonial.

Harsh, you say?

Like it or not, people don’t give second chances in business.  You must know how to make an eBook that reflects positively on your credibility to generate more sales and repeat customers.

For Lead Generation:

Information products are often given away at no cost or break-even in order to gain a foot in the door for bigger ticket items and services.

The more interesting your lead generator, the greater response and readership of future offers.

I recently bought a lead generator from a marketer for under $10.  While the information was sufficient to hold my interest, he’s dropped the ball with NO further contact.

The irony?

His headline reads, “Follow-up Failure is Killing Your Sales & Costing You Profits!”

Be interesting.  Be entertaining.  Stay in contact with your leads.

As a Primary Money-Maker:

Information products are touted as the EASY solution to the “auto-pilot” business model – sure to bring 6 figures and 4-day work weeks.  If this were true, there wouldn’t be so many information products that just aren’t selling.

Perhaps you’ll agree, the volume of information available to us as consumers is overwhelming.  Getting people to take notice of your eBook AND buy is no easy feat.

There are two options with info products as primary money-maker:

  • Selling your own products…
  • Selling someone else’s for a percentage of the sale (also called affiliate marketing)…

To be really successful with info products as a primary money-maker, you must know not only how to make an eBook, but also how to “sell and market”.  Otherwise, you become just another nameless, faceless, average joe trying to make a buck.  Anyone who tells you differently is selling you the dream, my friend.

eBook Questions is here to help you identify why some information products fly and others barely flounder…so that you can get the most credibility, leads, or sales from your own information products.
